CROP: Creating Rural Opportunities Partnership, funded by a BOCES grant, is an after-school program in which LEAF is an active partner and participant. It is designed to enhance the lives of youth living in Otsego and Delaware Counties.

LEAF provides services to middle school students in 7 Otsego County School districts; Cooperstown, Edmeston, Morris, Milford, Laurens, Schenevus and Worcester. We are sub-contracting with Hawk Circle – Earth Mentoring Institute in Cherry Valley. The trained staff at Hawk Circle use adventure learning to teach alcohol and other drug abuse prevention strategies in a non-traditional way. Tree identification, wilderness cooking, wilderness shelters, traps and snares, and beading necklaces are some of the topics/activities that help build such drug-resistance skills as, communication, team building, decision-making and self-confidence; all while having fun. Each session is two hours; programming continues for 9 weeks.
